There are many beautiful beach towns in Italy and you'd be fortunate to spend a week (or summer) at one. According to Momondo, you can fly to Cagliari from Rome for as little as $122 pp roundtrip. A car is necessary if you want to explore the island and apartment rentals are reasonable. We found a listing for a sweet little studio in the middle of town for just $430 per week, within 1km of the beach. Feel like a local and explore the neighborhood. It will be a great escape.
