Group Travel Resources

There are several sites out there that cater to group travel.  We've tested the following and here is what we've found.

Hotelplanner - A booking site to reserve hotel rooms.

TripHub - This is a blog with information about group travel planning.

TravelGroupPlanner.com - This site showed so much promise.  We were able to set up a profile with various proposed dates, locations, places to stay, activities, and meal planning.  It is much more flexible than any group travel planning website we've seen.  Unfortunately, once we set up the profile, the site failed to send out invites.  Perhaps the owners have moved on to other projects as we were unable to get any response (multiple attempts) via the feedback tab.

Triporama - This site allows one to create a day-by-day itinerary using Google Maps.  There is a checklist which the trip leader can use to delegate tasks and multiple discussion boards are allowed according to various topics.  Two things we'd like to see on this site are multiple polling options (so we can choose dates or locations as a group) and some way to invite people via Facebook.  Currently, one must have each group member's email address.

Event Planning Sites such as Evite or Facebook Events - These sites provide a centralized location to post event details and collect responses for attendance.  Some allow themes or user provided pictures as well as collecting survey responses and discussion forums.  However, a leader must choose the date and time as well as use other sites to reserve a location.  The leader is responsible for collecting money from the group, if required to host the event.
