Both vacations were all-inclusive flight and hotel packages for 7 nights. Prices given include all taxes and fees. The first trip was to, what is now known as, The Ritz Acapulco. At $797 per person double, this was probably the best deal of the two. The second trip was to Jamaica at the Superclubs Starfish Resorts for just $1014 per person double.
The nice things about SkyAuction:
- The packages can be modified some. For the Acapulco trip, they were able to arrange our airfare such that one of us flew from New York City and one from Salt Lake City. Our flights met up in Houston where we traveled on to Acapulco together. It was the same on the return.
- The fine print is not too bad. SkyAuction has standardized most of the information about dates, fees, taxes, etc. After you've looked at a few packages, you'll know what to look for and can find something that meets your needs more easily.
- Good options for groups. Some packages let you bid per person. After you've won the auction, you choose how many people you want to take, usually up to eight.
- The best deals seem to be on packages, particularly if you are coming from a non-hub airport.
- Before bidding, do some research to know exactly what the price would be. This will help you determine your maximum.
- Add some vacations to the watch list and then see where they close. Again, this will help you determine an appropriate price.
- If you have questions, don't hesitate to send an email to SkyAuction. They have always replied readily to our requests.
